The Omnicam and CEREC Software is an exceptional system.  Being able to capture efficient accurate digital information will streamline the software design flow, assure well fitting and well-formed restorations, and elevate our CAD/CAM satisfaction.  This video will convey my clinical practice and comments about whether there is a need for powder/anti-reflection practices in the current CEREC clinical world.

This video is a response to an email question I received about zirconia breaking during and after processing.  "I've recently had zirconia crowns that have cracks or are broken, some during milling and some after sintering. Have you seen this and what do you think is the cause?"

The Omnicam acquisition is a smooth machine in 4.6.  I occasionally still use Optispray on long proximal contacts and shiny metal surfaces.  Each version of the software since the Omnicam arrived on the market keeps getting better and better.  Using the digital wash technique of scanning the occlusal surface first, then role and stream the buccal and then the lingual for a quadrant or full arch scan constructs the best models and helps avoid over-scanning.

I am reaching more and more for Zirconia restorations for first and second molars when full coverage is indicated. With the current high strength zirconia, they tend to be opaque and often come into the room first!  Since I have been color infiltrating in the green state, this simple efficient step has significantly improved the blend for the final finished restoration. This video will demonstrate my single zirconia restoration infiltration technique using ZirCAD LT Colouring Liquids.

When I need a high-strength zirconia restoration or bridge for the shadows of the mouth, I often reach for ZirCAD LT by Ivoclar.  Avoiding visual tension is the secret for making high strength zirconia restorations work in the shadows.  ZirCAD LT Colouring liquids are my secret.  I using them on colored blocks to create a multi-effect and tone down the value in the cusp zones.  This videos will show you how to set up the ZirCAD LT Colouring Liquid Kit.

Often when working with infiltrated zirconia restorations, polishing is enough for the final finish. There are occasional clinical circumstances that may require stain and glaze to achieve a harmonious blend, particularly when using a high strength zirconia such as ZirCAD LT which is more of an opaque material.  This video will provide the workflow for using Ivocolor stain and glaze.

I have used 2.5%/2.5% Lidocaine and Prilocaine Cream as my topical of choice for years.  Since I had some extra time on my hands, which is very rare, I decided to self-inject and removed a fibroma on my lip that had developed from multiple lip bitings while chewing and talking.  It was good to experience what our patients go through.  This experience also strengthens my commitment to providing comfortable injections which I know our patients appreciate and as well as I did with this clinical experience.

When the case demands a high strength zirconia material and the restoration is in the secondary smile zone (shadows of the smile), then I am thinking pre-sintering infiltration coloring.  As of late, my preference is the ZirCAD LT Colouring Liquids.  This video will show the steps and liquid color application technique I use for a premolar bridge.  My primary coloring objectives for green zirconia is creating the saturation multi-effect and lowering the value in the cusp and occlusal zones.  It rather simple to learn and master.
