The new optical algorithms provides more flexibility for better stitching between captured images and camera angles while taking the optical impression. This is a significant update for CEREC 4.0. In fact, Dr. Klim considers optical impression of 4.0 to be the most impacting for CEREC use in the clinical theater.

CEREC 4.01 provides an incredible acquisition optical flexibility as compared to prior versions of the CEREC software.  I now have the flexibility to capture full buccal, lingual, mesial, and distal undercuts in my optical images without image distortion and fit challenges.

There are a few remaining 4.0 hiccups we need to work around as CEREC clinicans.  This video will point out the hiccups and how to get around them.

OptiBond XTR (Kerr Self-Etch, Light-Cure Universal Adhesive) ... I am very cautious about switching and recommending a new bonding agent.  There are credible reviews sanctioning the approval for Optibond XTR as a credible adhesive system.  This is an impressive system that provides universal compatibility

The Clear Shot delivers clearer images with less corrupt data. It also stabilizes the field for quicker image taking. The use of the Isolation wings not only retract the cheek and tongue, it also traps the light and concentrates it where it is needed the most.

Accelerated Mill issue in CEREC 4.0—there is still a bug in the accelerated mill feature of CEREC 4.0.  Will see unpredictable fits yet…learned this info from my colleague and friend Dr. Todd Ehrlich.  I do not use accelerated mill because of my restoration margin focus.  From what I am hearing, the accelerated mill will produce high occlusion and proximal contact issues as compared to the normal mill mode response.  I am sure this hiccup will be fixed in the

Thanks to the attendees at our recent Mastering Anterior CEREC Aesthetics in Northern California.  It was great introducing CEREC 4.0 to the anterior CAD/CAM theater.  This class will continue to evolve as the new CEREC interface develops.  Future class scheduling can be viewed at CADStar Workshops.
